Abstract

An oral therapeutic composition in dosage-unit form adapted for use in the treatment of premenstrual tension containing in each dosage unit at least 0.5 mg. and not more than 3.0 mg. of 6a -trifluoromethyl-17-acetoxyprogesterone, at least 1.0 mg. and not more than 25 mg. of a diuretic which is 6-trifluoromethyl-7-sulphamyl-3 : 4 - dihydro - 1,2,4 - benzothiadiazine - 1,1 - dioxide, 3 - benzyl - 6 - trifluoromethyl - 3 : 4-dihydro - 1,2,4 - benzothiadiazine - 1,1 - dioxide or 3 - phenylethyl - 6 - trifluoromethyl - 7 - sulphamyl - 3,4 - dihydro - 1,2,4 - benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxide, associated with a pharmaceutical carrier. Optionally, the composition may contain a tranquillizer which is 2 : 2-di-(carbamoyloxymethyl)-pentane in quantities of 100 mg. to 400 mg. per dosage unit. The composition may be in the form of a tablet, coated or otherwise, a pill or dragee.
