A snail control agent in crumbly or granular form, comprises a mixture of metaldehyde and a bait, e.g. bran, wherein the particles of metaldehyde are surrounded by a layer of glue, e.g. bone glue, which has set and wherein the mixture has been treated with paraformaldehyde or formalin.
