Abstract

962,643. Winding capacitors. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Nov. 2, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 39092/59. Heading B6B. [Also in Division H1M] A capacitor winding machine for winding papers, foils and the like comprises a rotatably mounted flat frame 1 upon which the foils &c. are to be wound, a variable speed driving means, and a speed control means adapted to relate the rotational speed of the frame to its angular position so that the linear velocity of the foils &c. do not vary periodically to any significant extent with the rotation of the frame. As shown, the frame 1 is driven by a chain 4 driven through a reduction gear 6 and variable speed gear 8 by a motor 9. An adjustable throw crank 14 driven in synchronism with the frame 1 actuates a rod 17 which continuously varies the setting of the speed gear 8. Twelve spools 21 of paper and metal foil are mounted on fixed axles 22 which may be braked.
