Abstract

962,481. Shipping containers; skips. HOOVER BALL & BEARING CO. Dec. 8, 1961 [Dec. 8, 1960], No. 44120/61. Headings B8H and B8P. A container or bin which is tilted to discharge has a door 20 in its top surface of the shape shown, hinged at 21 and having locking means 26 coacting with the front edge of the discharge opening. The hinge 21 is raised above the level of the top surface and in its open position the door rests flat upon the cover 17 of a filler hole. The bin is supported on legs 14 which take in recesses 15 for stacking. The locking means 26 comprises a socket 26 flush with the top of the door operating a cam member engaging under the edge of the opening to compress a rubber gasket. Fillets in the upper part of the bin direct the contents to the discharge opening.
