Abstract
A ceramic insulator with a coating containing a semi-conducting material is produced by applying to an unfired ceramic insulator a coating reducible to a semi-conducting material, firing the insulator to mature the ceramic and thereafter subjecting the insulator to a second firing in a reducing atmosphere. When a glaze containing titania is used as the coating material, molybdenum disilicide or silicon may be added. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 678,718 and 848,034.
