A lightweight record, particularly of the breakout-centre 45 r.p.m. type has a thick annular rib b which may be roughened or otherwise modified to provide inter-record drive in record stacks (see Fig. 1 not shown) and which provides record spacing to suit the operation of centre-post changers and an outwardly-tapering signal-carrying portion a. The label portion c is also thinner than the rib b and may be tapered towards or away from the centre, Figs. 3, 4.
