Abstract
961, 614. Counting-apparatus. T. EATON Ltd., and THORNBER BROTHERS Ltd. May 2, 1963 [Feb. 2, 1962], No. 4182/62. Heading G4D. A batch counter fed manually locks up and lights a lamp when one article is necessary to complete the batch. The lock is released manually, completion of the batch then advancing a counter by one step. As applied to the boxing of chicks, each chick is placed in a shoot 14 to rock a counter-weighted flap 17, Fig. 4, whereby a pawl 24 rides over a ratchet wheel 25, return of the flap 17 advancing the wheel 25 one step. The shoot and mechanism are duplicated. In counting up to 50 per box, after 24 chicks have been inserted in a shoot a stop plate 27 on wheel 25 engages a peg 28 to lock the associated flap. At the same time a switch 30 lights a red lamp 29. The operator must depress knob 32 to release pawl 24 to allow the next chick to pass down each shoot into the box. At the same time a switch 40 advances a batch counter 41.
