Abstract

960,294. Surgical syringes. C. H. HAMILTON. June 12, 1962, No. 22485/62. Heading A5R. A resilient sealing member for a syringe plunger comprises a cylindrical boss with a sealing annulus extending radially from it the thickness of the annulus increasing towards the periphery to provide feather edges at the point of engagement with the barrel surface. The sealing member may have a rearward extension 36 by which it is adhesively secured within a hollow cylindrical plunger rod 30, and a flange 44 to limit its penetration therein. The central boss 56 is of appreciably less diameter than the syringe barrel and the sealing annulus 48 extending from it has a concave face at each side, resulting in feather edges 70, 72 adjacent the cylindrical surface 52.
