960,287. Games of chance. F. P. AYERS, and G. H. PLUMMER. Jan. 18, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No. 12299/62. Heading A6H. A device for playing a game of chance comprises a sloping playing surface bounded by walls provided with obstacles, and over which balls are rolled, one end of the surface being further provided with an upstanding ledge serving as a lead in to a pocket which is dimensioned to receive a single line of balls, the pocket extending in the longitudinal direction of the playing surface. As particularly described the surface 4 is formed from a plastics material and has humps 5 pressed up therefrom together with projections 6 at the sides thereof to obstruct the passage of the balls over the surface, said balls eventually coming to rest against the ledges 10, 10a, with a predetermined number lying in the pocket 9. In practice, balls of different colours are used and bets laid as to which balls will come to rest in the pocket. The device also comprises a passage 15 for returning the balls to the top end of the surface, a cover 18 which is mainly transparent but may be opaque in the region 18a, and legs 17. The apparatus is biased so that normally the surface slopes downwards towards the pocket 9, but is arranged to be tiltable about the legs 17 in order to return the balls to the top end of the surface. Mention is also made of the possibility of replacing the legs 17 by a roller mounted transversely of the device.
