In an apparatus of the type described in Specification 944,040 for the selection and projection of any one of a plurality of sound cine-films, each film is attached to a separate feed-reel 23d and take up reel 23r there being a circular array of feed reels and corresponding take-up reels round a fixed shaft 52 carried by radial forked holders fixed to drums 14 and 15 rotatably mounted on the shaft 52. The selector mechanism 1-13 and pressure device 26 are as described in Specification 944,040. Here the drive to the take-up reel is applied to its flange periphery via roller 30. Monitoring rollers 43 and 37 respectively actuate the starting and stopping of the rewind roller 42, the film at all times-remaining connected to both feed reel and take-up reel. In a further modification, selection of a further film is made possible before the completion of rewind of a previous film by mounting the rewind roller 42 and its associated mechanism on a pair of arms fixed to a bushing which is rotatable, against spring urging, on shaft 52 (see Fig. 3, in Specification) and which is rigidly attached to a further bushing which, when the rewind circuit is operative, is adapted to rotate as one with the drum 14 carrying the take-up spools so that take-up reels, feed reels and rewind mechanism rotate together. When the rewinding is completed, the engagement of drum 14 with the bushing is broken and the rewind mechanism is carried back to its original position by the spring- urged rotation of the now unconstrained bushings.
