Abstract

Jet engines and rockets are lubricated by an oil which is a distyrenated reaction product obtained by reacting a styrene reactant with an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon as described in the parent Specification. The styrene reactant may be styrene, p-methylstyrene and dichlorostyrene, while the alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon may be toluene, cumene, cymene, xylene, methyl and trimethylnaphthalene, and ethyl, diethyl and butyl benzene. In an example the oil is the 2 : 1 adduct of styrene and xylene.
