Abstract

958,651. Inflatable mattresses. PEACOCKS (SURGICAL & MEDICAL EQUIPMENT) Ltd. Sept. 5, 1960 [Sept. 3, 1959], No. 30124/59. Heading A4M. An inflatable mattress which facilitates the turning in bed of weak patients has two compartments 3 interconnected by a duct 4 and shaped to define a pocket 5 for the head of the patient, the compartments being partially inflated and the duct 4 permitting transfer of air from one compartment to the other under movements of the patient or any manipulation by a nurse. Compartments 6 are fully inflated and prevent the patient falling off the mattress. The mattress is constructed of polyvinylchloride or other impervious sheeting united by welding or other means and marginal flaps 7 are tucked under the ordinary mattress or other bedding.
