Abstract
956,248. Information records. KALART CO. Inc. July 20, 1962 [April 21, 1961], No. 14501/61. Heading G2C. [Also in Division G5] An information record comprises a carrier having a picture area and an associated record track area comprising a plurality of rectilinear and separate parallel track sections disposed side by side one end of each section forming a continuation of the opposite end of an adjacent section, whereby scanning of the track sections in sequential order produces a continuous reproduction of the recorded message. As shown in Fig. 1 a film may be provided with areas of picture and sound recording A, B, C &c. and A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>1</SP> &c. respectively arranged alternatively. A sound recording area need not be next to its respective picture area and, if desired, the sound areas and picture areas may be arranged in two parallel tracks. Each sound area comprises a series of parallel tracks which may be inclined to the longitudinal edge of the film. These tracks may be of the variable area or variable density type and may be formed by known photographic printing or magnetic methods. When they are of a variable density type they are reduced in width at each end so that the sum of the width at the end of one track and the beginning of the next is equal to the normal width of a track. Similarly if the tracks are of the variable area type the fade out and fade in portions may be formed by variable density areas at the end of each track. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 922,722.
