Abstract
The polymerisation of alkoxypropenes is effected in the presence of a synthetic porous crystalline sodium and/or calcium silico-aluminate at a temperature in the range -80 to +100 DEG C. The molecular weight and/or yield of polymer may be varied by varying the temperature and/or duration of contact. The polymer may be recovered by dissolving in a solvent, e.g. tetrahydrofuran, separating the solution from the silico-aluminate and evaporating the solvent from the solution, e.g. by distillation under reduced pressure. Examples describe the polymerization of (1 to 4, 6 and 7) 2-ethoxypropene and (5) 2-methoxypropene in the presence of (1 to 4) sodium silico aluminates and (5 to 7) calcium silico aluminates.
