In order to make an ox raise its rear leg while being unable to kick, its Achilles tendon is compressed by a clamp comprising a bowed, fixed limb 1, which engages the front of the shin, and a movable, arcuate member 2 which, by means of a screw 6 and hand wheel 8, is pressed inwards against the tendon. The inner face 5 of the bowed member 1 is of convex cross-section, to avoid injury to the animal, and the outer face may be stiffened by a longitudinal rib 4.
