Abstract

949,870. Gear-finishing. DAVID BROWN INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 28, 1961, No. 34803/61. Headings B3B and B3K. A loading device for a gear shaving machine comprises means 17 for imparting a slight, non- positive rotation to a gear 13 if it fails to mesh with the cutter 14. The gear is transferred from a shoot to a recess 15 in a slide 10 which is advanced by fluid-pressure towards the cutter. If meshing does not occur even with the gear riding up the slope 17, a rod 19 is moved to actuate a switch 24 causing the slide to be withdrawn and advanced again: a slight rotation of the cutter may also be imparted. A finished gear is ejected from the recess 15 when a further gear is loaded.
