Abstract
949,705. Decorative articles. E. L. CIRESE. May 16, 1962, No. 18833/62. Heading B6G. A decorative article in the shape of a tree comprises a plurality of separate slats of substantially identical cross-sectional dimension bound together by a common bolt and pivotally mounted thereon so vas to lie in a relatively flat plane and adapted to be juxtaposed at various radial dispositions relative to said bolt. As shown (Fig. 3,) the article 10 comprises a flat base 11 and a standard 13 (Fig. 6), upon which a plurality of slats 14 are supported in laminar arrangement and susceptible to differential radial disposition. A finial 15 is provided for securing the slats to the standard. The standard may be formed by a long bolt 17 with a flat head which may be embedded in the base blocks 16, the upper end of the bolt being threaded to receive a nut 19 which may be embedded in or form part of the finial 15. The slats may be made of wood, plastic or expanded polystyrene. They may be cut individually from boards or the boards may be aligned in edge-to-edge relationship as in Fig. 1, drilled through and bolts passed through the drilled holes and the assembly then cut up for example along the lines D. The slats may be so placed as to form a helix if desired.
