Abstract

A dipping varnish for electrical components consists of 100 parts by weight of a liquid epoxide resin and 50-150 of a liquid polyamide, together with enough diacetone alcohol to form a clear solution. The epoxides are bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin condensates and the amides are prepared from fatty acids, e.g. linseed or castor oil acids and aliphatic polyamines e.g. ethylene diamine or diethylene triamine. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 726,570.ALSO:Electrical components such as coils and printed circuits are coated by dipping into a bath containing 100 parts by weight of liquid epoxy resin (bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin condensate), 50-150 parts liquid polyamide resin (aliphatic polyamine-fatty acid, (e.g. castor or linseed oil acids) condensate) and sufficient diacetone alcohol to form a clear solution, and drying and allowing the resins to cure at room temperature. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 726,570.
