Abstract

[Also in Division A4] In beverage refrigerating and dispensing apparatus the beverage is passed to a dispensing valve 18 through a product coil 13 housed in a tank 9 (Fig. 2), through which chilled water is circulated by a pump 6 via pipes 8, 11 from a bath 4 (Fig. 3), containing the evaporator 3 of a refrigeration unit. The pump 6 is controlled by a thermostat 19 in the tank 9 to maintain a desired beverage temperature and the compressor 12 of the refrigeration unit is controlled by a thermostat 5 in the bath 4 to maintain an ice bank of predetermined size on the evaporator 3. The dispensing unit may comprise a number of product coils and dispensing valves, beverages being fed to the lower ends of the coils from containers by compressed carbon dioxide, Fig. 1 (not shown). The pipes 8, 11 connecting the refrigerating and dispersing units may be rigid or may be flexible to allow the dispensing unit to be moved at will relative to a fixed refrigerating unit.
