Abstract

946,309. Gastric anti-secretory medicines. UPJOHN CO. Aug. 5, 1960 [Sept. 2, 1959], No. 27243/60. Heading A5B. An oral pharmaceutical preparation effective in the inhibition of gastric secretion and having a low anti-cholinergic effect comprises diallylmelamine or a non-toxic salt thereof and a pharmaceutical carrier. Suitable salts are the sulphate, tartrate, dihydrochloride, acetate, citrate and phosphate. Optional additions are (a) antacids such as calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide, aluminium hydroxide and magnesium trisilicate; (b) sedatives such as phenobarbital and 3,3 - diethyl - 5 - methyl - 2,4- piperidinedione; (c) psychotherapeutic agents such as (2-ethyl crotonyl) urea, reserpine and meprobamate; (d) antihistamines such as chlorpheniramine maleate, pyrilamine maleate; and (e) muscle relaxants such as 5-chlorobenzoxazolidine and 2 - (p - chlorophenyl) - 3- methyl - 2,3 - butanediol. The diallylmelamine, or a salt thereof, is used in dosage unit form containing 0.5 to 350 mgs. active ingredient. Suitable forms are capsules, pills, pilules, tablets, elixirs, solutions, suspensions and syrups.
