Abstract

<PICT:0944271/C3/1> The bi-polar graphite electrode as described in the parent Specification consisting of two graphite elements connected together with a layer of acid-resisting resin leaving a small area through which a conductor connects the two graphite elements, is modified by constituting the conductor 1b of graphite integrally connected with the graphite electrodes 1a, 1c, to form a unitary body. The cross-section of the conductor is 2 to 10% of the area of a graphite electrode face, and the phenol-aldehyde resin layer is 0.5 to 2 mm. thick.
