Abstract

943,572. Fuel cells. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 26, 1962 [Jan. 30, 1961], No. 3004/62. Heading H1B. A fuel cell assembly having regenerable reaction products and in which it is desired to use a common regenerator, has a device in the relevant flow circuits to interrupt the fluid and thus prevent the establishment of shunt circuits when the cells are in series. As shown, a H 2 + 0 cell utilizing HC1 electrolyte with TiCI 4 and Br as the transfer media has a common regeneration system 16, 24 for each of the electrolyte and flow interrupting devices 34 are provided. These devices may be watersheds off which the liquid discharges in traps or may be of a fountain character. The cells disclosed are of the type described in Specification 794,471.
