940,957. Traversing bottle blowing parisons to mould charging stations. FR. HESSER, MASCHINENFABRIK-A.G. Aug. 2, 1960 [Aug. 24, 1959], No. 26671/60. Heading B5A. Thermoplastic parisons for bottle blowing core delivered by pairs of tongs between an extrusion station and a laterally displaced mould charging station past which a plurality of split moulds is traversed. A plurality of pairs of tongs having fixed elements 7 and movable elements 6 is indexed stepwise past continuously extruding nozzle 4 with the element 6, carried from boss 9 upon sleeve 8, opening and closing to grip upon and sever tube 5, immediately below projecting nozzle core 28, by the action of stationary cam 20 upon the arcuate movement of roller 26 attached to boss 9. After severing, the closed tongs are lowered at the extrusion spaced by vertically reciprocable rod 14 carrying channel 12 which engages with roller 18 attached to sleeve 8. During movement to the mould charging station the tongs are raised by stationary guide channel 16 whereupon they are lowered by further vertically reciprocable means to deposit parison 5a upon blowpipe 23 within the closing sections of mould 2, the tongs disengaging by roller 26 riding over abutment 27. The tongs are raised during subsequent indexing by stationary guide channel 17 and the inflated parison eventually ejected by air blast upon moving belt 24. Alternatively, a single pair of tongs may reciprocate between the nozzle 4 and the charging station or, with two pairs of tongs each may supply a different station.
