Abstract
940,377. Mixing apparatus; automatic control systems. T. TARUKAWA. Nov. 11, 1959 [Nov. 15, 1958], No. 38295/59. Heading B1C. Apparatus for automatically feeding and mixing predetermined quantities of a liquid and other materials comprises a mixing tank 7 with agitator 8, liquid inlet pipe 19 with valve 21, and feeders 1, 2 having metering screw conveyers 3, 4. As shown, the mixture has been discharged and the tumbler mechanism 15 is in position to close switch S1, which completes circuits to close switch S5 and start motor MO4 to turn the arm 20 of the valve 21 into the open position shown in broken lines. The liquid level control member 26 is also lowered into the mixing tank. The float 28 rises until the predetermined quantity of liquid has been fed into the tank 7, when it closes limit switch S7 causing the motor MO4 to be reversed and the inlet valve 21 to be closed. The tumbler mechanism 22 is also operated to open switch S5 and close switch S6, whereby the motors MO1 and MO2 are started to feed the other materials; they run for predetermined times controlled by time switches TC1, TC2. The motor MO3 operating the agitator 8 is also started and the liquid level control 26 is lifted out of the tank. After mixing has been in progress for a given time the time switch TC3 operates to open the discharge valve 10. Supply of the materials and discharge of the mixture are effected repeatedly. The apparatus may discharge into a mixture tank 34 having float switches S10, S11 which operate to start the feeding and mixing cycles when the level in tank 34 falls to a predetermined low level and terminate them when it reaches a predetermined high level.
