Abstract

939,950. Induction motors. MMG MECHANIKAI MEROMUSZERCK GYARA. Dec. 6, 1961, No. 43706/61. Class 35. In an asynchronous motor the stator flux circuit has a magnetic shunt in which a variable flux can be produced by varying the current in a coil surrounding the shunt. In Fig. 1 a single phase shaded pole squirrel cage motor has a rotor F and a laminated iron stator body A. The stator body has three columns a, b, c which each carry coils. Column a has a coil 1 fed with alternating current, columns b, c are magnetic shunt members with coils 2, 3 connected in series opposition and fed from a D.C. source. When coils 2, 3 are energized they divert alternating flux from columns b, c to the air gap thus controlling the speed of the motor. In Fig. 2 not shown a single rotor is simultaneously acted upon by two shaded pole stator systems so that it is possible to reverse the direction of rotation. Fig. 3 shows a two phase machine, the second phase being produced by the phase shift of capacitor K. Fig. 4 (not shown) illustrates a two phase machine with two single phase stator systems on a common core, the second phase stator system remaining as shown in Fig. 3.
