A device for spreading material on lawns or for levelling the surface of soft soils comprises a number of bars 11 mounted in a frame 12 provided with a handle 14, the bars being so shaped that the portion of each bar in contact with the soil is flat and the faces of the bar adjacent the flat portion are substantially vertical.
