Abstract

939,315. Moulding gramophone records. TELDECTELEFUNKENDECCA SCHALLPLATTEN G.m.b.H. April 6, 1960 [April 10, 1959], No. 12192/60. Class 87(2). A die for use in moulding gramophone records comprises an upper and a lower portion, each portion including a frame 1 and a central body adapted to support the record forming matrix, said body being surrounded and supported by the frame 1 and including channels 9 for a heating or cooling fluid, and the central body being surrounded by a clearance 6 from the frame so as to reduce heat transfers. The central body comprises a member 2 having an annular web 3 and a central cylinder 11 which receives the pin of the co-operating die portion, and two annular inserts 4, 5 having webs which co-operate with the member 2 to form the channels 9. The said webs are provided with uniformly distributed recesses and the recesses in alternate webs are radially in line, Fig. 3 (not shown). The member 2 is formed with a projection 7 which provides a guide within the frame 1 on expansion. The member 2 is also provided with a flange which is engaged by a ring 8 screwed to the frame 1.
