[Also in Group XXX] In a method of laying multiple layers 2, 3, 4, Fig. 1, of electric cables in a protective flexible link chain 1 in which the layers are necessarily disposed away from the neutral axis of curved portions of the chain, spacers 8, 9 are placed between the layers during laying and are subsequently removed to allow space for the layers to move radially during flexing. Flexible protecting strips 5, 6, 7 of metal, fibre, or plastic may be permanently disposed between the layers or over the outermost layers.
