Abstract

937,149. Fuel cells. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. April 6, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 13429/62. Class 53. A battery of fuel cells incorporates electrodes 151 consisting of a non- conductive frame forming spaced apertures retaining therein plate electrodes all in a single plane and bearing non- conductive spacers. The electrodes are arranged on conductor bars 150 with the left halves of one row of electordes interleaved with the right halves of the next row of electrodes, a slot in the electrode frame engaging the bar. The terminals of the battery are shown at 200 and the electrolyte supply is at 141. Channels in the manifold unit supply fuel air and electrolyte to the packs and similar channels at the top of the units collects used gases which are extracted at 166, 169.
