Abstract

936,898. Stands; brackets. W. P. IGGULDEN. Aug. 14, 1962 [Oct. 18, 1961], No. 37308/61. Classes 52 (3) and 52 (5). An equipoise mechanism for lamps, hair dryers, &c. comprises two parallel levers 4 and 5 or 6 and 7 acted on by counterbalancing springs 20, 21, the levers being of channelsection such that the longitudinal side edge of one telescopes within the other. In the lamp shown, levers 4 and 5 are pivoted at 8 and 9 to a column 10 swivelling on a base 11, and at 12 and 13 to levers 6 and 7 pivoted at 14 and 15 to lamp supporting bracket 16. The springs are enclosed within the channel section levers. Another embodiment shows external springs attached to the lower lever system, with a single arm replacing the upper levers. Various channel sections for the levers are shown.
