Abstract
934,887. Change speed control. ZAVODY PRESNEHO STROJIRENSTRI GOTTWALDOV NARODNI PODNIK. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 18, 1959], No. 41432/60. Class 80 (2). A change speed control for low speed gears used for driving the feed mechanism in machine tools comprises a shift rod 4 fast with the armature 5 of twin electromagnets 1, 1<SP>1</SP> which are selectively connected by a change-over switch 7 either to parallel preselector switches 12, 12<SP>1</SP> or to parallel programme control switches 8, 8<SP>1</SP>. For a preselected shift the change-over switch 7 is positioned so that contacts 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, 17 are closed and one (e.g. 12) of the two preselector switches 12, 12<SP>1</SP> is closed to preselect a ratio which is established by closing a pushbutton operated switch 18 to energize a relay 13 which closes a switch 13a to complete the circuit from the electromagnet 1 through contacts 3, 11, 12, 13a and a relay 9. The resistance of the relay 9 is such that the current in the circuit is too weak to effect the shift, but energization of the relay closes switches 9a, 9b to respectively energize a relay 10 and to maintain the relay 13 energized after the pushbutton switch 18 is opened. The relay 10 closes switches 10a, 10b, the latter bridging the relay 9 and providing an increase of current to the electromagnet 1 which moves the armature 5 and rod 4 left to establish the selected ratio. The leftward movement of the rod 4 opens the switch 3 and closes 3<SP>1</SP>, the former breaking the previously energized circuit and all the relays return to their initial positions. Condensers 14, 16 in parallel with the relays 10, 13 and a resistor 15 in series with the relay 10, delay the de-energization of the relays 10, 13. If the gear teeth are not positioned for precise engagement and prevent establishment of the preselected ratio during the period of increased current, the delayed de-energization of the relay 13 keeps the contact 13a closed after the relay 10 is de-energized and the contacts 10a, 10b open, whereupon a weak current in the circuit re-energizes the relay 9 and the cycle is repeated until the shift is established. For a programme shift the change-over switch 7 is positioned to close contacts 6, 6<SP>1</SP> and open contacts 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, 17. Closure of one of the switches 8, 8<SP>1</SP> (e.g. 8) completes the circuit from the electromagnet 1 through the contacts 3, 6, 8 and relay 9, the latter of which is energized to close the contact 9a and energize relay 10 which in turn closes the contact 10b to bridge the relay 9 and provide an increased current to the electromagnet 1 which establishes the shift. If the shift is not completed during the period of increased current the cycle is repeated until the shift is established.
