Abstract

934,871. Correcting networks. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 3, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1958], No. 39080/58. Class 40 (8). [Also in Group XL (c)] A variable gain-frequency response circuit comprises a delay line, correctly terminated at one end and open at the other, connected to the output of an amplifier which supplies antiphase signals to the two ends of the line, and a variable resistive path bridging at least a portion of the delay line. The circuit may be used for correcting aperture distortion of a television signal. The signal to be corrected is applied to the input of a " long-tailed pair " 1, 2 between the anodes of which are connected a delay network comprising capacitors 6 and two mutually coupled inductors 7. The anode of valve 2 is connected to the junction of two resistors 8, 9 which together are equal to the characteristic impedance of the line, and the output is taken via a capacitor 14. In order to adjust the amount of correction, a variable resistor 11 in series with a fixed resistor 12 is connected between the ends of the line. The delay network may be replaced by a distributed type delay line. Specification 789,934 is referred to.
