[Also in Groups XXXVII and XXXVIII] In a system in which the pattern wheel bits of a circular knitting machine (not shown) are selectively raised by electromagnets (not shown) in accordance with a programme recorded on a film band (not shown), the band being driven by the machine ; errors in synchronization between the programme band and the machine movements, caused by lack of accuracy in the programme drive mechanism (not shown), are eliminated by superimposing short synchronizing pulses on to the longer programme pulses. The synchronizing pulses are generated by a rotating disc driven accurately by the machine. The disc may operate photo-electric, electromagnetic, or electrostatic transducers, or mechanically operate a contact-breaker. Eight variations are discussed.
