Abstract
933,297. Sausages; untying casings. TARMIMPORTEN A.B. Aug. 10, 1961, No. 28886/61. Class 49. In an apparatus for loosening the ties around the casing between sausages, a chain of sausages is freely suspended and advanced vertically through an aperture 9 in a wooden extension 8 (interchangeable to vary the aperture size) screwed to a lever 6 which is pivoted about a vertical shaft 5 in a bearing-block 4 and reciprocated in a substantially horizontal arcuate path by means of a rod 11 connected to the lever 6 and to a crank mechanism 13, 14 by spherical bearings 10, 12. The shaft 16 of the crank mechanism is journalled in a bearing-block 15 and carries a pulley 17 driven from an electric motor (not shown) by a belt 18. The assembly is mounted on a spring-supported plate 3. Each sausage, when within the aperture 9, rolls around the inner oval edge thereof and rotates relative to the other sausages. After leaving the aperture, it rotates in the opposite direction as the resilient sausage chain untwists. This constriction and stretching of the casing loosens the surrounding tie which is forced apart and falls away. The sausage chain is then advanced to a skin slitting machine.
