Abstract

933,003. Calculating-machines. KOOPERATIVA FORBUNDET. Dec. 8, 1959 [Dec. 8, 1958], No. 41772/59. Class 106 (1). The differential actuators of an independently operated calculating machine are arrested by stop members in the form of loose abutment pieces displaceable into and along transverse guides under the action of the setting mechanism, the number of guides being equal to the radix of the notation employed and all the abutment pieces in the guides being advanced one denomination step at each actuation of the setting mechanism. Differential stop mechanism.-Extending transversely behind stop rods 27 connected to the actuators 28 are ten frames 83 for the digits 0-9. Each has a channel 85 into which rollers 88 may be fed from a curved storage channel so as to enter the paths of the stop rods. The rollers in the channel 85 co-operate with a toothed detent bar 89 and a similar feed bar 92 having an armature 100 by which it may be drawn to the left on the energization of an electromagnet 98 common to all of the feed bars and energized when any one of the ten number keys is depressed. Each feed bar carries a pawl 102 which may be raised by an electromagnet 105 to a position in which, on operation of the feed bar, it will feed a roller from the storage channel into the channel 85. The electromagnets 105 are energized by depression of the corresponding number keys. A slide 56 in each channel is advanced by the foremost roller and the slides co-operate with a common arm 54 connected to a slide 49 which indicates the denominations in which digits have been set. A chain 82 actuated by the slide 49 blocks movement of the actuators in the denominations above that of the first significant digit. At the end of an operation, an electromagnet 58 is energized to depress pins 107, 108 in each of the stop frames so as to disengage the detent and feed bars 89, 92 from the rollers, whereupon a spring restores the arm 54 and slides 106 and the rollers to the storage channels. Driving and actuating mechanism.-The actuators 28 are formed with armatures which are moved to differential positions on energization of an electromagnet B. In addition operations, the totalizer 31 is then raised by an electromagnet 70 and a printing electromagnet is energized over a lead T. The actuators are restored by an electromagnet A. During movement of the actuators, rods 111 carrying damping pistons move through cylinders 110 formed in the stop frames 83. Addition and subtraction.-On depression of an Add key, a solenoid 63 lifts an armature 64 which then restores slowly, a flap 68 in a damping piston closing during the return movement. A contact bar 66 successively completes circuits during the return movement to (a) the magnet B so as to cause the actuators to move to differential positions; (b) the print magnet and the totalizer-engaging magnet; (c) the magnet A so as to restore the actuators; and (d) a totalizer disengaging magnet. Finally the magnet 58 is energized to allow the restoration of the rollers 88. For subtraction, a solenoid 71 operates in a similar manner but the totalizer is engaged initially and disengaged before the return of the actuators. Correction.-Depression of a correction key energizes a relay 59 which in turn energizes the magnet 58 so as to clear the stop mechanism. Repeat operation.-A Repeat key may be operated to energize a relay X so as to open the circuit of the magnet 58 to prevent the clearing of the setting mechanism at the end of the cycle. Total and subtotal-taking.-The Total key causes a subtraction-timing cycle to occur but a magnet 77 is also energized so as to render a stop 78 effective to arrest the totalizer wheels in zero position as they are driven reversely by the actuators. The Subtotal key also energizes a relay 79 which breaks the circuit to the disengaging solenoid for the totalizer. Specification 912,140 is referred to.
