A display means, which is adapted to illustrate in a cumulative or subtractive manner different strata of an object, comprises a plurality of opaque cards, which are punched to form opaque frames 16 having integral therewith opaque display portions 17 carrying on their upper surfaces printed images of each stratum of the object, the views or the composite frame and display portions being in register so that a complete picture of the object may be built up by superimposing the cards on each other. In one embodiment the display portion may be attached to the frame by extending portions 18, 19 in Fig. 1, of the object displayed and in other positions by integral spokes 20 and punched portions 10 to 15 removed. In another embodiment (in Fig. 2, not shown) the frame and display portion may be interconnected by a transparent sheet 21 adhered to both of them and the spokes 20 locating the display portion with respect to the frame removed subsequently. A plurality of cards may be bound in a book form, in Fig. 3, the book comprising covers 22, 23, book spine 24 and a pair of resiliently displaceable mounting members 25 anchored to the covers at 26. In a further embodiment (in Fig. 4, not shown), the cards may be formed into a cruciform paginal unit. In still a further embodiment (not shown) the display means may comprise a plurality of individual cards for selective superimposition. The backs of the display portions may be printed with reverse views of the various strata.
