In a process for the manufacture of granulated materials a continuous length of a composition is extruded from a die nozzle 1, the length 3 projecting from the nozzle being acted upon and severed by a continuous stream of air directed transverse to the direction of extrusion (arrow 5). The extruded piece 3 is made to abut at its free end against a wall 8, a known distance from the nozzle, so that granules 7 of the same length are always formed.
