Abstract

927,458. Loud-speaker enclosures. F. B. EARNSHAW. Jan. 13, 1960 [Feb. 16, 1959], No. 5238/59. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XXXVIII] A loud-speaker enclosure consists of a hollow column 2 having an opening 4 at one end, adjacent which is mounted a loud-speaker 5, and a second opening 12 at its other end, at least part of the column between the location of the loud-speaker and the other end being subdivided into a plurality of passages extending longitudinally of the column 2. As described, the column is of square cross-section and of wood, and at its lower end a square board 6 is fixed by metal pins 7 at its corners, a hollow pyramidical reflector 8 of glass being mounted on the board 6. The column 2 contains a large number of closely packed cardboard tubes 10 of circular cross-section which are supported on a wire mesh 13.
