[Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVI] A device for printing markings on a cable 6 by means of rotating wheels 4, 5 comprises a rocking member 1, which has two positions in each of which one of the wheels 4 or 5, removably mounted at the ends of the rocking member 1, is in contact with the cable 6, and means for changing the position of the rocking member as a function of the length of cable passed. In the embodiment shown a preset counter 15 produces a pulse which actuates one and cuts off the other of two solenoids 9 and 10 and during the change-over period actuates two electromagnetic clutches 13 and 14 but after changeover cuts off one of them by means of a relay circuit which is described. This ensures that the active wheel remains rotating until after changeover and the inactive wheel commences rotation before contacting the cable.
