926,536. Programmed electric control systems. SOC. GENEVOISE D'INSTRUMENTS DE PHYSIQUE. Dec. 10, 1959 [Dec. 30, 1958], No. 41987/59. Class 38 (6). [Also in Group XXII] The cutter of a vertical boring machine (see Group XXII) is moved to a series of discrete positions in accordance with recorded binary digital code signals. The cutter 15 is mounted on a carriage 13 which is adjustable by a leadscrew 16 on a support (not shown). The support is rotated by the vertical boring spindle (not shown). Coded signals recorded on perforated or magnetic tape or card 29 is stated to be read in binary code at 30, converted to decimal code at 31, and to analogue form at 26 to be compared at 27 with the outputs of coarse and fine synchros 22, 41 to produce an error signal energizing a motor 20 driving the leadscrew 6. A tachometer generator 21 provides velocity feed-back.
