Abstract

926,328. Massage appliances. A. F. BURKARDT. May 8, 1961, No. 16665/61. Class 81 (2). A massage appliance comprises a support 27 which is vibrated inwardly and outwardly of an insulating casing 10 by an electric motor, a detachable absorbent covering 29 on the support and heating means for the support. The support 27 is integral with or secured to the armature 26 of a solenoid 33 and is vibrated in an open end 20 of a tubular extension 13 of the insulating casing 10. The support is covered by an absorbent overlay 29 which is secured on the casing extension by a ring 30. The armature is vibrated against springs 28, 38 disposed between one end of the solenoid and the support and the other end of the solenoid and the head of an adjusting screw 21 threaded in the armature, respectively. Heating of the support is produced by hysteresis effects in the armature. In a modification, a heating element (Fig. 5, not shown) and a thermostat are provided between the solenoid and the support which is made of insulating material and screwed to the armature.
