Abstract

A process for the manufacture of regenerated cellulose film of good dimensional stability includes the steps of (1) drying the softened gel regenerated cellulose film to 100-120% moisture while applying 2-4% draw, (2) further drying the film to 25-60% moisture while permitting 1,5-2,5% relaxation and (3) completing the drying to 3,0-7,5% moisture while applying 0,5-1,0% draw. Preferably the process relates to cellulose film regenerated from viscose. Drawing and relaxation of film is achieved conventionally by use of rollers of differential rotational speeds.
