923,828. Teeth for earth-excavating equipment. ESCO CORPORATION. Nov. 17, 1960 [Nov. 27, 1959; Aug. 19, 1960], No. 39450/60. Class 68 (1). A wedge-shaped earth-digging tooth and the tooth holder therefor are so formed that transverse and thrust components of any force exerted on the tooth are transmitted from the tooth to the holder through separate contacting surfaces. In the embodiment shown, thrust is transmitted from the base of the recess in the tooth to the surface 18 of the holder as well as through the rear surfaces of ears 32 on the sides of the tooth to the rear surfaces 23 of recesses in the holder shaped to receive the ears. Transverse forces are transmitted from the surfaces 19, 20 to the opposed surfaces of the holder. Various modified forms of tooth and holder are also described.
