Abstract

920,595. Juke-box magazines; playmeters. ROCK-OLA MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. July 5, 1961 [Dec. 29, 1960], No. 24258/61. Class 40 (2). A toroidal magazine is formed from a plurality of U-form bails 64, carrying pads 82 and mounted to hub means 46 to define a plurality of non-radial pockets for records 68, the plane of the upright record 68a extending through the horizontal turntable axis. A band 84 retains the lower records by supporting their edges, while chattering of the records during rotation of the magazine in the direction 88 is prevented by their non-radial position. A juke-box with a pre-selection memory as described in Specification 919,527 and with record-transfer means, as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,804,307 and using such a magazine is described. This has a playmeter, Fig. 6, geared to rotate with the magazine displaying arcuate members 164 indexed against the action of springs 174, in successive steps by means 172, 198 out of slots 166 in a member 144, the cylindrical surface of which carries pairs of indicia indicating the record played, one of which is masked (Fig. 4, not shown) by a member moving according as one or other side of the record is played.
