Abstract

A catalytic composition for the stereospecific polymerization of a -olefines comprises (1) a trialkyl aluminium, (2) a titanium trihalide and (3) an electron donor organo-compound of P, As, Sb, Bi, O or S. Specified (1) are triethyl and triisobutyl aluminium, (2) titanium trichloride and (3) tri-n-butyl phosphorus, triethyl phosphorus, tri-n-butyl arsine, thio-n-butyl ether, tetrahydrofuran, diethyl ether. General reference is made to tributyl, triethyl and other tertiary, stibines and bismuthines. Examples describe the preparation of isotactic polypropylene. The Specification also refers to butene-1 as a polymerizable a -olefin. Specification 896,509 is referred to.
