Abstract

In a fractionating column comprising a group of packed ducts 1, wherein the vapour and the reflux-liquid flow in countercurrent, the vapour of the mixture-to-be-fractionated is supplied to the ducts from a common distributing tank 3 by means of tubes 4 which extend up into the ducts. The tube 4 preferably introduces the feed-vapour into the duct at a point where the concentration of the more volatile component of the vapour-mixture in duct corresponds to that in the feed. A capillary tube 5, for metering purposes, is provided at the bottom end of each tube 4. The concentration of heavy water is referred to. Specifications 918,303 and 918,304 are referred to.
