Abstract

The invention comprises 1,2-diphenyl-4-carbamoyl-3,5-pyrazolidinedione (I), its nontoxic, pharmaceutically acceptable salts, and the preparation of (I) by condensing 1,2-diphenyl - 3,5 - pyrazolidinedione with urea. Examples describe the preparation of (I) and its sodium and calcium salts. Salts with amines (e.g. alkanolamines) are also mentioned. The foregoing compounds have an anti-inflammatory action, and may be administered orally for the treatment of various arthritides, e.g. as tablets, capsules, syrups or elixirs.
