Abstract

Acrylonitrile is polymerized in dimethyl sulphoxide by a process which involves adding only a part of the dimethyl sulphoxide at the start of the reaction and adding the remainder, either as a continuous stream or in portions, during the course of the polymerization. Polymerization may be catalysed by ammonium persulphate. Specification 917,848 is referred to.
