A box or container 10 moulded from a loose fibrous material has, at desired locations in its walls and base, more highly compressed masses 18, 22 20 of a similar fibrous material. The fibre may be Istle or Tampico fibre, horse hair or dog hair, bonded together by rubberizing or by any other suitable adhesive. The more highly compressed masses 18, 22, 20 may be coiled runs of rubberized fibre ribbon incorporated in the walls and base of the box or container during its manufacture. A cover may be similarly constructed.
