Abstract
916,723. Refractory bricks. GENERAL REFRACTORIES Ltd. Nov. 17, 1961 [Dec. 6, 1960], No. 41868/60. Class 51 (2). A metal-clad refractory brick consists of an elongated open-ended box 1 of rectangular cross - section, two preformed refractory sections 4 fitting the length and depth of the box 1, a second elongated openended box 2 of rectangular cross - section fitting the depth of box 1 and interposed between the two preformed refractory sections 4 to complete the width of box 1, and a third preformed refractory section 3 fitting inside the box 2; the ends of two opposite sides of box 2 being secured to the ends of the sides of box 1 against which they lie. As shown, box 2 tapers in width and refractory section 3 tapers accordingly. The refractory section 3 is shorter than box 2 to facilitate the welding, i.e. tack or shot welding of box 2 to box 1.
